Do Good, Eat Great
January 2, 2018
Happy New Year! In 2018, we’re going to make an impact and help fund a cure for Diabetes – let’s Do Good, Eat Great and Put Some Moxy on your Plate!
2017 went by so quickly and was filled with so many twists and turns. This was the first year that we really started showing the boys the world, kicking off last Thanksgiving with the boys first trip over the Atlantic to England, then south to Costa Rica, and west to the Grand Canyonthis Thanksgiving. It’s so wonderful to have them so excited to see the different parts of the world and seeing it through their eyes has been tremendously rewarding for us.
Ialso had the opportunity this year to engage significantly more in advocating for the Diabetes Association and the American Heart Association. We worked on a podcast in the fall and soon will be releasing a quick video of our journey on the American Diabetes Association site. Of course, this is so important to us as we continue to be passionate about educating and raising funds for this growing epidemic.
One of the most common comments that we get when we tell people that our family is impacted by Diabetes is that we don’t look like the kind of family that would have that disease. It’s typically an obese or overweight person’s issue, is the common belief. Weight is a very important indicator, but what most people don’t understand, and we honestly did not either until it impacted us, was that Diabetes is a disease of the pancreas and it’s ability or inability to process sugar. The grocery shelves today are filled with products that are overloaded with products made with sugar in all it’s shapes and forms. There is not a ‘good’ sugar category. Honey and fruit have plenty of benefits, but they also contain sugar. So, if your body cannot process it correctly, it will cause problems and over time could develop into a more serious condition.
The great news is that we can do something about it. So, we begin 2018 as a year of hope, perseverance, education and action. We are officially launching our first set of Moxy Spice Mixes (buy HERE and soon up on Amazon), made up of beneficial spices, with NO ADDED SUGAR OR SALT. These spice mixes have great ingredients like Turmeric, Cinnamon and Cumin, which are known to provide significant benefits for everyone, and act as natural anti-inflammatories.
Check out Dr. Kara’s post on the benefits of using natural spices to get an understanding of how and why it works.
Let’s start 2018 without resolutions that we’ll break, but with actions that we can actually take. For each pack of Moxy Spice Mix purchased, we’ll donate the majority of profits to funding the cure for Diabetes. In addition, we have a cute custom branded apron available in limited quantities and all proceeds from those sales go to the cause. Buy the Apron here.
We hope that you’ll join us this year to Do Good, Eat Great and Put Some Moxy on your Plate.
